Ernst JANDL
A poet is the mouthpiece of his times. For three decades, the articulate voice and penetrating poems belonged to Germany’s unofficial poet laureate: Ernst Jandl. Each letter, each syllable, each word is perfect.
After a personal encounter with the author in Vienna, statt-theater FASSUNGSLOS (an independent theater group from Dresden) dared to set Jandl’s texts to music in a radio play produced by Bavarian Radio. Here again, each tone and melody is perfect.
And when the music fell silent, Jandl recited a capella.
