EMBRYO

Embryo has been playing its way through the international underground since 1969, sometimes as an ensemble with designated personnel, sometimes as a loose-knit collective of musicians that changed from one gig to the next.

More than 300 musicians have been part of Embryo at one time or another during the past 28 years, but one performer was always present: the multi-instrumentalist Christian Burchard. Long before the big boom in “world music”, Embryo sought encounters with African, Arabian and Asian musicians – and still pursues international contacts, most recently in China.
