Captain Sperrmüll

Fette Beute

There are no more protest songs, my ass. There is Captain Sperrmüll! And they’ve been around since 1979, when they were called the “Ton Steine Scherben from the Saar”.

More than 30 years later, the completely renewed gentlemen around singer and guitarist Didi Conrath decided to record an album again. And at least in terms of content, Conrath’s band has remained true to itself: Politrock. But the spectrum has expanded. Now you can find the one or other love song on Captain Sperrmüll.

The revolutionaries of the past have become more conciliatory, but they have remained. And they groove until the end. Which is perhaps also due to the to the personnel makeover that Captain Sperrmüll has undergone: Rhythm guitarist Adrian Conrath and bassist Felix Hubert are children of the 80s, and drummer Jan Marco Becker also belongs to the new generation. And so the freebooters of the political song spoil us with clear statements (“Television fucks your soul”), cryptic stories and and an always well-seasoned rock-pop sound.
