It was a gloomy night in Germany, hardly any independent productions and no market when a comet appeared on the music horizon: SCHNEEBALL (Snowball) a music phenomenon with ist legendary trail of founding artists: Ton Steine Scherben, Embryo, Missus Beastly, Checkpoint Charly and Sparifankal.
In the mid-seventies the SCHNEEBALL LABEL gave the impulse. Texts were turned into melodies, music to rhythm. Then distribution was organized, the SCHNEEBALL comet paved the way for German Indie labels.
This historical acoustic event has now been released as an allround work of art. Two CD´s for the price of one. The musik variety of the seventies unfolds. Cult bands, beyond Krautrock, feature the sensational music of yesteryear.
The booklet presents a summary of the history of SCHNEEBALL productions and the bands with their fabulous musicians and photographs of their LP-covers. This is a must for any collection.
